REPORT OF WORLD AIDS DAY - BY CiSHAN DELTA

 

 

CiSHAN Delta in collaboration with the Delta State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (DelSACA), commemorated World AIDS Day 2025 with series of planning meetings in the month of November with all stakeholders including CiSHAN Delta participating in all the meetings. DelSACA currently have a very young and active Executive Secretary, newly deployed from Ministry of Health, Dr Rudolf who is a very detailed person. Outcome of the series of meetings is a list of planned activities for the 2026 WAD including advocacy meetings to major stockholders, rally and symposium to create awareness and seek domestic resourcing, advocacy to end stigma amongst of issues of the HIV/AIDs response

The theme for 2025 is "Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response". This theme highlights the urgent need to address recent funding cuts, political, and societal challenges, focusing on transforming the approach to ending AIDS by 2030 through resilience, innovation, and strengthened community-led services.

 

Key elements/issues of the 2025 theme include:

 

• Overcoming Disruptions: Addressing the 2025 funding crises and obstacles that threaten to reverse decades of progress.

• Transforming the Response: Urging a shift toward human-rights-centered, community-led care to reach vulnerable and general populations.

• Focus on Action: Emphasizing that early detection through testing, treatment, prevention, and sustained religious, traditional and political leaders involvement are crucial to ending AIDS by 2030.

Facilitators at the one day sensitization workshop to mark the World AIDS Day at Asaba organized by WOFII for CiSHAN. Other collaborators/speakers were Pharm Dubera Fubera (MENA) Amb Scholastica (SHEI NGO) Mrs Ejiro (Gender desk, Ministry of Health Asaba) Mr Tega Richard, (Programs Director WOFII) and Amb Eris (CiSHAN Coordinator)


Working Fingers International Initiative, with support from the wife of the Delta State Governor, Dcns Oberovwori organized a sensitization workshop to commemorate WAD targeting traditional and community influencers in Delta State. In addition to the theme of the WAD. We also addressed the issue of polygamy and multiple women by Urhobo men. So the idea is to have a change on mind set re-orientation about multiple sexual partners. We also talked about need to go know your status and living faithful to one sexual partner


AGAPE Development Initiative, CiSHAN lead CBO led others to walk out HIV/AIDs at Ika area of the State


Kings and Queens Helping Hand Foundation organized testing at Jesse community of Ethiope West LGA while creating awareness on HIV AIDS
