CiSHAN Enugu Report of Prevention Technical Working Group:

REPORT OF PREVENTION TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP MEETING
HELD AT ENSACA HALL ON THE 30TH OF MARCH 2026.

 

Prevention Technical Working Group on HIV and AIDS is a quarterly meeting of members working on Prevention of HIV coordinated by ENSACA to discuss technical issues about HIV Prevention in the State.

The meeting started with an opening prayer followed by reading of last meeting minutes that took place in quarter one of 2025. The minutes was adopted by the house.

The new Executive Secretary of ENSACA gave a welcome remark, expressing her gratitude in been part of this meeting for the first time since she became the ES of ENSACA last year. She pledged her readiness to support every organization in working on prevention of HIV in the state. She mentioned that she has begun discussion with the Governor regarding commodities needed for testing and soon it will be available. She also appreciated Caritas Nigeria for their support especially in making kits available for testing.

 

Matters Arising:

1. Term of Reference (TOR) for TWG Members:

The following are the TOR for every member of TWG to follow to ensure comprehensive service delivery:

 

A. Prevention

B. PMTCT

C. Post Violence Care (PVC)

D. Community Case Management Program (CCMP)

E. AYP

 

Organizations were assigned to areas they cover making reference to the TOR. For CiSHAN is in Prevention.

 

2. Specific Tasks for Organizations are:

 

A. Conduct regular advocacy and stakeholder sensitization on national HIV Prevention guidelines.

B. Organize capacity building.

C. Review logistics and supply chain management for uninterrupted commodity availability.

D. Facilitate quarterly TWG and sub-TWG meetings to review performance and address gaps.

E. Develop and disseminate prevention IEC materials for all population categories.

F. Support inclusion of Faith Based Organization (FBO) and community structures in HIV service delivery.

G. Conduct supportive supervision and M & E visits to assess compliance and program quarterly.

H. Strengthen data collection, reporting and feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement.

 

* EXPECTED OUTCOMES:

A. Enhanced implementation and coordination of HIV Prevention across the state etc.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

 

A. Know the percentage of facilities implementing HIV Prevention.

B. Number of coordination meetings and capacity building in a quarter.

C. Number of pregnant women currently receiving treatment via NDARS.

D. Retention rate to care at the end of the year.

E. Number of post violence survivors who received comprehensive HIV related care.

F. Number of community members reached through case management and prevention outreach.

G. Availability rate of HIV testing kits, condoms and other prevention commodities.

H. Proportion of AYP reached with HIV Prevention and SHR intervention.

I. Number of supportive supervision and M & E visits conducted annually.

J. Reduction in new HIV infections and MTCT rates over time.

 

* PRESENTATIONS BY ORGANIZATIONS:

The following organizations made presentation of their work for the quarters under review (fourth quarter to first quarter 2026);

D. AGHI

 

ACTION POINTS:

 

1. What should we do to mitigate cost in delivering drugs to patients that can’t afford transport to the facility for refill.

2. ENSACA M & E will write to all organizations that stopped reporting on the DHIS to find out why they stopped reporting.

3. CCFN is expected to report back to TWG in regards to PREP uptake.

 

CONCLUSION:

The meeting was successful and ended with a closing remark from Obumneme Faith O. representing CiSHAN Enugu Coordinator.
